EA Sports and their ad agency Heat don’t half step when it comes to developing new projects to promote the Madden franchise. Last year they create an over the top music video starring Dave Franco and Kevin Hart for Madden 15. This year they produced the most ridiculous movie trailer you have ever seen to promote the fictional “Madden: The Movie”; this thing makes Michael Bay look like Nick Cassavetes.
Franco plays the outlaw renegade “Blade Johnston” alongside his sidekick “Janet” as well as “Rex Ryan” the head coach for the Buffalo Bills and 49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernik, who plays Al Pacino’s blind character from “A Scent of a Woman.”
Together they all form a team of ‘Playmakers’ who are attempting to take down the evil Madden overlord. The video is an insane mix of Mad Max, Fast and the Furious, Quentin Tarantino cliches with a dash of Jurassic Park. Watch the ‘Making of’ video here.
“We call this time of year Madden season, when even friends become rivals,” said Dana Marineau, EA Marketing VP. “This time around, we wanted to take the idea of Madden rivalry to an epic new place. The campaign continues to center on something that fans will not only love, but will also want to be part of.”
